JOHN ADAMS DIX APPOINTED EPSTEIN PROJECT DIRECTOR/ARCHITECTURE; LEADS Mc4WEST LLC DESIGN TEAM
John Adams Dix has been appointed Project Director/Architecture for A. Epstein and Sons International, Inc. (Epstein), the Chicago-based architecture and engineering firm, to lead the design efforts of Mc4West LLC, the design-build team developing and constructing the McCormick Place West Expansion.
"John is ideal for leading the design efforts of the Mc4West team," stated Epstein's Vice Chairman and CEO Mickey Kupperman, who also serves as principal-in-charge of Mc4West LLC. "He brings a wealth of project management experience to this expansion project and will provide the coordination skills and direction necessary to complete it successfully."
In April 2003, the Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority announced the selection of Mc4West LLC as the design-build team for this expansion to the Chicago-based convention center that includes 500,000 square feet of exhibition space and 200,000 square feet of meeting space. Key partners of the Mc4West LLC design-build team include The Clark Construction Group, Inc., The Hunt Construction Group, Inc., A. Epstein and Sons International, Inc., Mesirow Stein Development Services, Inc., Mota Construction Company, II in One Contractors, Inc., Globetrotters Engineering Corporation, McKissack & McKissack Midwest, Cotter Consulting, Inc. and Pentad, Inc.
Dix brings over 30 years of design and management experience on large-scale, complex projects to this position. He most recently served as managing director and treasurer for DeStefano and Partners where he created and implemented a variety of management systems and procedures. There he served as managing partner leading the executive architect team that was designing the new Terminal 6 at Chicago O'Hare International Airport. He was also program management principal for DeStefano when the firm served as managing architect for the Chicago Public Schools' $3 billion Capital Improvement Program. Prior to DeStefano, Dix was an associate partner at Skidmore, Owings & Merrill.
