A. Epstein Aids in Rebuilding Efforts in Region
Devastated by Hurricane Katrina
Architecture/Engineering/Construction Firm Assists Disaster
Recovery Providers.
A. Epstein and Sons International, Inc., the Chicago-based
architecture, engineering and construction firm, is providing
ongoing architectural and engineering assistance to relief
supply distributors who also have fallen victim to Hurricane
Katrina. Epstein, a licensed general contractor in the state
of Louisiana, is supplying architects, engineers and construction
personnel to repair warehouses and distribution centers for
clients including a medical supply distributor and a major
distributor of facilities maintenance supplies.
"It is often
forgotten that local centers for providing important relief
supplies and services are also affected by a devastating natural
disaster," stated Mark Streetz, Epstein senior vice president
and head of Epstein's relief efforts. "We are providing personnel
and resources to ensure that these regional facilities are
up and running to keep constant the flow of relief items to
those affected by Hurricane Katrina and now Hurricane Rita."
These local distribution facilities were left without power,
communications and water and sewer service after Katrina struck.
Epstein brought in necessary assistance including electrical
contractors and emergency generators to provide temporary
hook-ups for lighting and communications. Additional services
included locating and providing temporary fuel sources and
fuel tanks to operate the generators plus providing important
temporary living and sanitary facilities.
"We want to be certain
these facilities are up and functioning to provide ongoing
supplies to the victims of this catastrophe," stated Epstein
president John Patelski. "Beyond that, we will provide ongoing
architecture, engineering and construction services to help
in the effort to rebuild New Orleans and this entire region
so rich in history."
