Mark Fischer Named Head of Interior Space International at Epstein
A. Epstein and Sons International, Inc. the Chicago-based architecture, design, construction and engineering firm, announced today that Mark Fischer will head its in-house interior design subsidiary, Interior Space International (ISI).
“We’re delighted to have Mark as the new head of ISI,” said Mike Damore, Epstein’s Executive Managing Director and President, Architecture and Interior Design. “Mark’s 25-year career in interior design comprises an outstanding portfolio of work. His recent work with Exelon in Chicago was cited by the Chicago AIA for excellence in using sustainable design in commercial interiors – the first project of this scale and visibility incorporating the standards of The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design.”
Fischer’s work for the Exelon Corporation Corporate Headquarters involved the redesign and building of more than 220,000 square feet. “The completed project aligned Exelon’s vision of environmental leadership and demonstrated that green building design is good business and provides significant environmental benefits,” noted Damore. “The final product created an attractive, highly functional office space using the highest ‘green building’ standards accomplished with commercially available, high-performance products and technology.”
As business unit head, Fischer will be responsible for managing ISI’s creative and financial results, reporting to Damore. He will oversee a staff of 20 at Epstein’s headquarters in Chicago.
From 1995 to 2006, Fischer was co-head of ISI. During that time, he won numerous awards for design excellence in projects such as the Museum of Science and Industry Grand Hall, Sears Merchandise Group, Rocket Science and WMS Gaming.
From (2006 to 2007), he was an Associate Principal with Lohan Anderson. He holds two BFA degrees from The University of Kansas, one in interior design and one in graphic design.
ISI specializes in the design, space planning and programming of office buildings, retail environments, museums, hotels, restaurants, banks and legal offices. ISI has offices in Chicago and Los Angeles.
