The Greater Chicago Food
Depository (GCFD) is a non-profit organization that receives
donations of food and distributes the food products to
charitable organizations in the greater Chicago area.
Epstein architects, engineers and material handling engineers
worked with the GCFD to prepare a conceptual design of
a new 200,000 square foot dry and perishable distribution
facility. Because the food products are donated from numerous
sources, and there is no way to predict the type and volume,
Epstein designed a material handling system that is extremely
flexible. |
