ISI was retained by the British School of Chicago to provide full interior design services, including programming, schematic design, design development, construction documentation and construction administration for its new, 75,000 square foot school. The new facility is 5-stories and can accommodate a student population of 600, ages 3 to 18. The interior design includes a warming kitchen, a multi-functional dining space with seating for 300 students, both junior and senior-level libraries, science laboratories, art rooms, a music classroom/laboratory, a design technology laboratory, a full-sized basketball court/gymnasium and administrative offices. A ground-level playground will be provided for younger students while a unique, rooftop exercise area will be designed for older students. This exciting new school opened in January of 2008. In addition to providing interior design services, Epstein, ISI’s parent company, also provided MEP engineering services for the school building-out.
