Epstein provided full-service architectural design services, project and construction management for a 38,000 square foot office/laboratory addition to the international corporate offices of Alberto Culver, Inc. in Melrose Park, Illinois. The existing roof framing was raised approximately 8 feet to allow for adding a new floor level inside the facility. The roof was raised by cutting existing columns, raising roof framing with hydraulic jacks, splicing new column extensions to the columns, modifying the roof diaphragm, adding new lateral stability systems and modifying the existing exterior masonry cladding.
